On October 11, The L.A. Trust for Children’s Health gathered community partners, sponsors, dental providers and more than 600 community members to partake in its inaugural Tooth Fairy Convention at Los Angeles’ Exposition Park. The super fun event offered free dental screenings, oral health education, insurance enrollment navigation, healthy foods, fun, prizes, celebrity appearances, music and more!
As part of the Summer 2015 Linked Learning/Health Career Pathways program, The L.A. Trust for Children’s Health employed 19 LAUSD students to create content to promote the LAUSD Wellness Network, which includes 14 school-based health centers offering comprehensive health services including physical, mental and oral health. Below are 6 public service announcements on 3 topics: Healthy Eating/Obesity Prevention, Healthy Relationships, and California’s Minor Consent Law.
The L.A. Trust has prioritized student engagement as a key strategy in our goal of maximizing wellness on LAUSD campuses. As part of that work, we recently brought Molina Health Care together with The L.A. Trust Youth Advisory Board members and other student leaders from across our Wellness Center campuses where they were empowered to learn valuable skills on how to hold a town hall meetings and conduct interviews.
