Adult Allies

What is an adult ally?

An adult ally is an individual who wholeheartedly believes in the potential of young people to become greater versions of themselves. They are supportive mentors who encourage participation, positive development, and organization in their students. They also listen, learn and appreciate young people’s assets.

An adult ally could be a teacher, school district staff member (ex: healthy start coordinator) or a staff member from the Wellness Center. These adult allies are entrusted with recruiting and establishing student advisory boards, holding regular meetings, and supporting youth with health awareness campaigns. The L.A. Trust student engagement programs use a positive youth development model and provide a safe and inclusive environment for students to flourish.
